ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL  DISCONTINUED

After a run of 25 years, Rockaway Music & Arts Council has been forced to discontinue its Annual Fall Arts and Crafts Festival. This decision was a hard one to make, but RMAC finds itself unable to keep up with the high fees charged by Gateway National Recreation Area, NPS for the use of the Gateway Park facilities. Coupled with the fees for insurance our Executive Board had no choice but to cancel the Festival.

RMAC was the first local cultural organization to make use of the park and has attracted more people to the park than any other group with our Fall Festival and summer concerts. But over the past few years GNRA has slowly prevented us from utilizing the best venues for our presentations and have raised the fees for the use of park property. We adapted, however, and held our events, but with a great deal of stress on the part of our Festival and Concert Committees.

The Executive Board of RMAC  have repeatedly asked and pleaded  for help from our Senators and Representative to at least request that the National Park Service reduce the fees, but we have had no positive responses from them.

The Executive Board of RMAC sincerely apologizes to our loyal vendors and visitors.
